Eleanor Stone has reflected on the trials and tribulations of life as a teenager in her first major artistic offering.
Gracing the walls of the Maitland Regional Art Gallery for the new exhibition Face, Eleanor’s work is one of 54 portraits by Hunter and Central Coast students to go on show this weekend.
“This artwork is all about me being different people depending on how I’m feeling. I never stick to being the same person,” Eleanor, 13, said of her work, titled Split Personality.
“Also, I think I’m easily influenced by others.”
Eleanor, a year 8 student at Maitland Grossmann High School, has been painting and drawing for the past few years but is yet to take a professional art class.
“I’m really proud of this piece because I have finally accomplished something,” she said.
Eleanor’s work has also been chosen for the invitation to the exhibition.
The works for the exhibition were selected from 142 works submitted from 28 schools.
The exhibition demonstrates the efforts of talented young artists, from kindergarten to year 10, and their teachers across the region.
