About Creative and Performing Arts at MGHS
The Creative and Performing Arts faculty includes Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts, Visual Design, Photographic & Digital Media and Entertainment Industry. Music and Visual Arts are compulsory subjects in Years 7 and 8; Drama is taught for a term in Year 8; and elective subjects are available for Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts, Visual Design, and Photographic & Digital Media in Years 9 and 10. HSC courses are available in Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts and Entertainment Industry. All courses follow NSW Board of Studies syllabuses. In all work there is a strong emphasis on practical tasks, a focus on literacy, and the integration of technology. The school performing ensembles include Choir, Boys Choir, Concert Band, Tap Ensemble, Star Struck Dance Ensemble, Senior Dance Ensemble and Clarinet Quartet. Many students are involved in the regional choir, Hunter Singers. |
