STAR STRUCK 2007 - “Just For The Record”

Star StruckMaitland Grossmann High School had over 60 students involved in Star Struck 2007 “Just for the Record”. With 32 dancers, 15 choristers, 4 featured artists and 11 Technical crew, we were certainly well represented in the show.

  Dance

The theme of this year’s show suggested that some records may be broken – and they were. Maitland Grossmann had the most beautiful cast of dancers ever assembled, wearing the most fabulous couture gowns in the Hunter Valley.

The cast of 32 dancers from year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 spent several long days of rehearsals before the performances began for their items “Pennsylvania 65000” and “Heartbreak Hotel”. Despite several impossibly difficult technical hitches and several choreographic changes, all students managed their routines with great performance skill and quality. Year 10 students Beth Martin and Alisha Laney were also featured dancers in the opening of the second half of the show and the entire cast performed in the finale. Thanks to Miss Roberts for her choreography and guidance, along with supporting teachers, Ms Orkopoulos, Miss Bunder, Mrs Carter, Ms Cox and Ms Sutherland.

Star Struck - MGHSChoir

The Choir once again had a huge role in the show, with 16 songs to learn from memory and a sizeable cache of props to collect for all the visual effects. The students from our school were excellent once again. Thanks for Mrs Alford for her work with the choir.

Featured artists

All featured artists from MGHS did a great job in this year’s show. Brittany Turner, year 9, sang “To Sir With Love” in the first half of the show, Nicole Hembry, year 12, was in the Senior Backing Vocals Group, Mitchell Irwin, year 11, played a feature role on guitar in the student band and James Jennings, year 12, played drums in the second half of the show. Congratulations to these students for their outstanding effort.

Entertainment Industry students

The 11 Entertainment Industry students from year 11 did a fantastic job in the Stage Management Team at this year’s show. The students gained valuable industry experience for their Work Placement requirements and were integral to the success of the show. Thanks to all students and their teachers in the Stage Management Team, Mrs Williams and Mr McLuckie. The year 11 Entertainment students also assisted with the Dance Festival, held at the end of Term 2.
