About English at MGHS

Maitland Grossmann High School - MGHS

A passion for learning underscores the way that English is delivered at Maitland Grossmann High School. As a pivotal faculty in the school, we understand that it is our duty to develop students as keen thinking individuals who understand that their informed opinion is valued.  Our new units of work encourage students to "think outside the square" and ask questions of "what if" about their world.  We encourage students to reflect on their learning and engage in the world of language as a means of power and communication. Currently our very experienced staff are renewing programs and reviewing our current assessment practices within the Quallity Teaching Framework, to create innovative tasks of significance.

ICAS English Competition

Date: 3 August 2010

Last year we entered four teams in the Premier’s Debating Competition. This competition involves the students selecting a topic on arrival at a school and having one hour to prepare the topic which is decided with the toss of a coin. We entered one Year 12 team, two in the Year 9/10 competition and one in the Year 8 section.

Reports on each team can be found by clicking on the more button below.
