Organisation of classes

Year 7 Science classes are the same as all other core classes in the year except for Maths classes.

Student assessment
Students in year 7 are assessed by examinations held at the end of each term. These examinations assess work completed during the term. Each examination is divided into four sections that assess:
  • Knowledge and understanding
  • Practical skills and first-hand investigations
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Scientific communication
Reports
Student progress is reported twice per year:
  • Half-yearly report uses results from the Term 1 examination
  • Yearly report uses results from the Term 2 and Term 3 examinations
Promotions and demotions
Students will be moved into classes at the end of the year based on their results from the four term examinations.
