Student Services at MGHSMaitland Grossmann High School is committed to the wellbeing of all students. Staff supports the welfare of our students by creating a safe, caring environment in which students are nurtured as they learn. We provide opportunities for students to enjoy success and recognition, make a successful contribution to the life of the school and derive enjoyment from learning. The Support Faculty Additional support for students is supplied by the Support Faculty through programs which include: Years 6 to 7 transition and orientation
In September, an orientation day is held to help familiarise year 6 students with Maitland Grossmann High. In November, all year 6 students sit for literacy and numeracy tests to assist with class placement for year 7. A parent information night is also held in November each year. Additional transition support is provided for some identified students. Peer Support Early in term 1, a two day peer support program is held for year 7 students. Trained year 10 students mentor the younger students and this support continues after the official program ends.
Peer support dates: - Thursday 1th Febuary - Friday 12th Febuary. Immunisation In 2010, an immunisation program will operate. Details can be found in the Upcoming Events window to the right.
Imunisation dates: - Friday 5th March - Friday 14th May - Friday 17th September. Integration Integration funding provides in-class assistance for students with disabilities. Learning Assistance Additional learning support is provided, through various programs, to assist students with learning difficulties. Health Plans Students who have medical conditions which require monitoring or support at school require a Health Care Plan. This plan is developed in consultation with parents and health professionals. Exam Provisions Students who have severe learning difficulties or medical conditions may qualify for assistance in their School Certificate and Higher School Certificate examinations. Applications to the Board of Studies are developed in consultation with the STLA. Student Assistance Years 7-10 Where families are experiencing financial difficulties and have a pension card, some financial support for mandatory education expenses may be provided. Applications for assistance should be made on the Student Assistance Form which can be downloaded from this website.
